Raising the Bar: Melissa Vogel’s Journey from Client to Leader

Written by Syniti | March 30, 2026 at 6:27 PM

Good careers don’t follow a straight line. Great ones raise the bar along the way.

Careers rarely follow a straight line. In fact, some of the most impactful leaders build their expertise through unexpected paths, diverse experiences, and a willingness to take on new challenges.

That’s certainly true for Melissa Vogel, Syniti's Head of Delivery for the Americas Midwest. She didn’t start in consulting, but on the client side, where expectations are high, stakes are real, and “good enough” isn’t good enough.

Her path reflects what happens when you dare to set your standards higher and go to a place where challenges are welcomed as opportunities to evolve.

Starting Where Expectations Are Highest

Melissa spent more than 20 years at General Mills, working at the intersection of HR, technology, and enterprise transformation.

Early on, she helped lead a major SAP HR implementation, redefining how workforce data was structured, managed, and used across the business in entirely new ways. That experience sparked a passion for the intersection of data, technology, and business operations.

Over time, Melissa became a key leader in enterprise data initiatives at General Mills. She helped guide global HR transformation efforts and eventually led a large-scale Workday implementation program supporting tens of thousands of employees around the world.

Through that work, she developed strong relationships with consulting partners at Syniti who were helping deliver the transformation.

Expecting More from a Data Partner

Melissa’s first exposure to Syniti, a part of Capgemini, wasn’t as an employee, it began when she was a client of Syniti's, leading enterprise data initiatives at General Mills.

Working closely alongside Syniti's consultants on complex SAP and HR transformations where data quality wasn’t optional, she saw firsthand a different kind of partner. The team approached complex problems collaboratively, practically, and with deep technical expertise. In environments where precision mattered most, the impact was clear.

“The people made the difference,” Melissa recalls. “They consistently delivered what they promised and brought expertise we simply didn’t have internally.”

Instead of vague recommendations or one-size-fits-all solutions, Syniti showed up with a plan and followed through. In a market full of overpromises and under-delivery, that stood out and ultimately played a role in Melissa’s next career move.

So when it came time for her next move, she didn’t just look for something new.

She chose a team that already met her standard.

Transitioning into Consulting

Melissa joined Syniti in an account executive role, stepping into the consulting world after decades on the client side.

Transitioning into consulting was no small shift. After years of managing internal transformation programs, she was now helping  global enterprises navigate their own data and ERP transformations.

Having led large-scale enterprise initiatives herself, Melissa understands exactly the kind of mounting pressures, priorities, and complexity clients clients face. That perspective has helped her build strong partnerships and guide customers through some of their most critical transformation programs.

It's this invaluable experience that continues to shape how she leads today, grounded in what actually works, not just static best practices that sound good on paper.

Growing with a Company that Raises the Bar

As Syniti evolved and expanded, so did Melissa’s role.

She moved through several leadership positions, from account executive, global account director, to Head of Delivery.

Today, Melissa leads delivery teams responsible for helping organizations successfully implement data transformation initiatives. Her focus isn't making sure the systems go live, but that they deliver measurable, sustainable business value.

Her leadership philosophy is simple but powerful: great consulting starts with making clients successful.

“If we help our clients succeed—if we make them look good inside their organizations—they’ll trust us again and again.”
