New data from SAP's own user groups reveals major challenges with data management when migrating to SAP S/4HANA. Recent findings from the UK & Ireland SAP User Group (UKISUG) have found that a majority of SAP customers have difficulties with data management impeding business process automation (BPA) and migrations to the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system S/4HANA.

As many of you know, RISE with SAP was announced by SAP in January 2021 as an offering combining SAP’s newly acquired business process intelligence solution with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, along with technical services to smooth the transition process, cloud infrastructure, and consumption credits for the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) in a single contract.
“Any data migration is challenging. Data is often in silos across the enterprise, and it’s not always (okay - almost never) governed properly. Accuracy and consistency problems are often the norm,” explains Kevin Campbell, CEO at Syniti. “But success depends on high-quality data. Because of this, a move to S/4 means it’s absolutely necessary to work with a partner experienced in complex data migrations.”
And SAP agrees.
According to a benchmark report from SAPInsider in November 2021, choosing the right partner is imperative to removing risk and decreasing data migration costs.
Regardless of the challenges that organizations may face with a move to S/4HANA, choosing the right implementation partner to assist with your deployment can detrimentally impact migration costs. SAP customers need to look beyond simply hosting providers and take into account advisory, implementation, and application management roles.
“At Syniti, we’ve done countless complex data migrations. With a 100% success rate, we pride ourselves in helping organizations turn the most complex data concerns into competitive advantages,” Campbell states.
In fact, by working with trusted, experienced partners like Syniti, enterprises are not only realizing a 38% reduction in data migration costs on average, but an astonishing 303% three-year ROI. According to research from IDC, the deployment of SAP Advanced Data Migration by Syniti generates significant levels of value across the organization. IDC projects that the total value Syniti and SAP customers are realizing is worth an annual average of $3.45 million per organization.
The right partner is instrumental to the success of your migration to SAP S/4HANA and avoiding the risks commonly reported by SAP users themselves. At Syniti, we’ve been a proud SAP partner for years – and SAP Advanced Data Migration by Syniti is not only a preferred solution extension for RISE with SAP programs, but it’s also the only SAP premium-certified cloud-based solution for data migration.
