The Syniti Knowledge Platform’s New UX: Meeting the User at Their Level

Syniti’s data management solutions are now unified under one, streamlined platform. Find out more about how our new UX is democratizing data access for every business user.

Today at Syniti, we’re announcing a radically new look and feel to our flagship product, the Syniti Knowledge Platform (SKP). Built on the core understanding of how users interact with our product every day on a multitude of projects, we’ve brought together our powerful suite of data management solutions under one, unified platform. Like all good design, we’ve taken a holistic approach, thinking not only about our core offerings like data migration, data catalog, and data quality, but how our products, and the people who use them, work together.

“At Syniti, we’re meeting the user at their level. Everyone in the business, no matter their experience, can have a common user experience so they can get in, get exactly what they need, and get out.”

User-First Data Management Software

Historically, data was under the purview of the IT department, relegated to the server room on the basement floor. Over the last decade, however, we’ve seen data move out of the server room and up throughout the organization.

Today, every company is a data company, and every decision is made using data. That information must be readily available, at your fingertips, and often visualized in a way to be easily understood, in order for users to figure out exactly what needs to be done with it.

Despite this, traditional data management software hasn’t always evolved in pace with the times. Data tools have always been about being rugged and effective, even if it's ugly and the usability is questionable. Sure, user experience (UX) design should be aesthetically pleasing, but first and foremost it needs to be useful. It needs to provide the right information, the right tool, in the right place at the right time. Organizations need to understand what their data looks like and how they can use it. What they don't need is a cluttered system with 1,000 buttons and switches.

“With the Syniti Knowledge Platform, we’re bringing together the way you run a business with the data you need to run a business. Now, the ‘whys’ of the business and the ‘what’s’ of the data can be seen together.”

With SKP you get both – an incredibly powerful and effective tool that’s purpose-built for its users and the different ways that people use and measure data, with a clean and sophisticated design. Because the average business user is no longer just the middleman handing it off to the C-suite. To maintain quality data, every user needs to actually understand how they got those results, what those results mean, and where the gaps are. Whether it’s working within the catalog, replicating data, or building data systems to perform particular tasks - it’s all there for you.

Building a Data-Driven Culture

Democratizing data access means giving every business user the right tools for the job by improving already-powerful solutions with more intuitive features that support a broader range of use cases. Data needs to support the organization's areas of interest beyond the IT department. To do that, we have to get data out of the basement server room and come up to where our actual users are. We're moving towards the people; the ones who actually use the software, who are sitting in the middle of the building and are making decisions.

“Today, every company is a data company, and every decision is made using data. That information must be readily available, at your fingertips”

At times, the software industry can be focused too much on over-engineering platforms. There’s software that’s like a fast, hot rod car; it seems powerful but it’s completely unusable for day-to-day needs. And then there are the more experimental versions that are more lightweight, get more miles per gallon – but when you get in, you find out it’s because they took everything out.

But data software can actually be sleek and modern and have all the things that you need in it. With SKP’s new, streamlined UX, we’ve built a data management platform for the average user but kept the power that Syniti’s always had. We're unifying design with powerful solutions, so you can get to what you need. Now, you get data catalog, data migration, replication, matching, and even governance - all in one platform. It’s a unified, integrated system rather than a bunch of parts or programs the user has to link together.  We're not adding on additional, superfluous features; we're bringing what's needed together so it's all right there.

Data Management for the Entire Enterprise

At Syniti, we’re meeting the user at their level. Everyone in the business, no matter their experience, can have a common user experience so they can get in, get exactly what they need, and get out.  No matter where you’re at, you know the data you’re accessing is trusted data. On the security level, we can ensure they're not getting the wrong data or they're not getting into things they shouldn't be getting into. And the C-level can be rest assured they are meeting regulations and driving towards certain key business initiatives and goals.

Good data makes good organizations – and great data makes them even better. It’s the glue that holds the organization together. With the Syniti Knowledge Platform, we’re bringing together the way you run a business with the data you need to run a business. Now, the ‘whys’ of the business and the ‘what’s’ of the data can be seen together.
